Our Mission

Bits of Freedom provides equine-assisted services that enrich the lives of individuals with physical, cognitive, emotional, and social challenges, fostering growth, independence, and confidence through the healing power of the horse and access to meaningful outdoor experiences.

Improve the quality of life for individuals with special needs through the power of the horse. Medication is sometimes prescribed for people with Autism, but mostly to control symptoms like hyperactivity and seizures. While there is no known cure for this disorder, researchers suspect that equine-assisted therapies may be a highly beneficial treatment program for individuals with autism. A horse's fuzzy muzzle stimulates the tactile senses and the rhythmic movement of a horse inspires a rider to focus and improve motor skills. Horses engage in social interaction, calm and soothe timid individuals, and inspire children to make eye contact, perhaps for the very first time.

Bits of Freedom envisions a community where every individual — regardless of physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges — has access to the healing power of the horse and the outdoors.

Through our equine-assisted services and Outdoor Equity programming, we strive to remove barriers so youth and individuals of all abilities can experience growth, confidence, and connection in natural settings.

We believe access to outdoor recreation and therapeutic riding should never be limited by ability or financial circumstances. By combining compassionate instruction, strong community partnerships, and well-cared-for horses, we create opportunities for independence, joy, and belonging.
